SDSU Offering DPT in 2012

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hope they can get that going! But would it be accredited? I'm applying for the next cycle (starting this July) and I wonder if they'll be accepting applications!

I am sure it would be accredited.

Applying there for your undergrad?

I would love to know what their prereqs are so I can take care of them all now so Im just looking to see what the prereqs are for the other CSUs and maybe SDSU will have similar ones to those

While there are no current DPT programs in SDSU there is University of St. Augustine in San Marcos, CA. Look into that if you're hoping to stay in that area 8)

But that school is soooo expensive!
I need to take lotsq prereqs anyway so hopefully by the time I am done, SDSU will have this program up and running! And I know it wont be as much as Univ St Aug

I'm applying to PT school this summer/fall. That's why I was wondering if it'd be ready (accredited) by the time I'd be going to school (Summer/Fall 2012, pending I get in anywhere).

I feel ya on the prereqs, but I assume they'll have similar ones as the other CSU's.

And I wish USA wasn't so expensive too! Gotta go to public school, haha.

That would own! I hope they push this through, it would go to the top of my list!

In order for a school to become accredited, they have to have at least one class graduate. Because of this, they won't be accredited by the time you apply. If you were to apply, that would be something i would def ask about in an interview or something. There is always the smallest chance that a school doesn't become accredited so I would definitely choose wisely. Depending on the school, sometimes its no problem at all.

Thanks havefaith11 for clearing that up! I'll definitely keep that in mind if/when I apply!

So it's official! Itll be starting in Fall 2012
Who else is going to apply?

It says they are accepting only 35
Is that the norm for the schools?

I believe that is the avg for a lot of programs. Some schools have made cuts such as CSU Long Beach which only accepted 20 applicants this cycle. I think Western and St. Augustine (spring 2012) accepted about 45 while USC takes in 90 applicants. I think St. Augustine takes in more for the fall cycle. If I have been misinformed, my apologies.

Anyone else submitted their complete applications? If so, how long until some kind of response? certainly after January 15?

I submitted my SDSU application in January for their inaugural program. I have not heard ANYTHING back, although I have sent Dr. Rauh (program director) multiple e-mails.

Anybody, anything, Bueller, Bueller...

srry if this is a stupid question but what if this program doesn't become accredited ? (what does that mean for students who apply / go here )

I'm holding back my idea to apply to USA san marcos because this school will be a lot cheaper and closer.

I would say your question is probably the MOST relevant question you could ask about the SDSU program. Accreditation is a huge issue and I have heard both sides of the story. I think a lot of people may be assuming just because it is a state school, it will gain accreditation in time for the 2015 class.
Its a sad story, but this may be my only choice IF they ever get back to us.

Anyone, news?

I just got an email stating that I have been "unofficially" accepted. I just need to get some things cleared by the Graduate Division and wait for the hard copy of the acceptance to come in the mail. I am freaking out right now!!!! 😀

I got the email this week and will be attending SDSU!!!.... Just in time before I had to place a deposit over at USA (San Marcos). Super excited!

Anyone else got in?
