Does anyone on this forum go here? I am very interested in the program (especially the possibility of obtaining a PhD/MPH). I am curious as to how the two locations work. Do you go back and forth each day between UCSD and SDSU, taking certain classes in certain locations? Do you spend more time at one school taking classes, and only go to the other if your advisor/lab is there? Where do most students live (it seems that the two campuses are far apart..., but i don't know san diego that well). And which school is printed on your degree?

and should anyone currently be in san diego... take care. those fires are scary.

thanks!

I'd love this info as well.

I know this post was awhile ago so you may have found out an answer by now, but if not I hope this will help. I am not a student in the program, but I am working as an RA in one of the faculty member's labs.

The majority of the time is spent at SDSU and as the office for the JDP (joint doctoral program) and the psychology clinic are there. You do take some classes at UCSD, sometimes you make take classes at one campus for example on MWF and the other on TTh, and some semesters you may not take any at UCSD it really depends on your schedule. The campuses are about 20-30 minutes apart depending on traffic, sometimes the traffic into La Jolla and back to SDSU can be pretty bad depending on the time of day. Depending on who your mentor is you may spend more time at UCSD if your lab is up there but the majority of the students are centered more around the SDSU area. As far as living, people really tend to live all around the city, there isn't very good public transportation, and I'm not sure about campus housing I think it's a bit tough to get a hold of. But there are alot of neighborhoods where you can find housing within a 20 min. drive of either or both campuses and you can either live by the beach or more inland depending on the amount you're willing to pay and how small of an apartment you can put up with. Most of the students I know live relatively close to the SDSU campus and housing is much cheaper than the UCSD area. Both schools would be on your degree because it is a joint program. Hope this helps if you haven't heard this all already.
