Is there no more search function on SDN? I can't seem to find it, and it doesn't work on my mobile device either.

In the meantime, if someone can answer my question that would be helpful: What is the earliest you should ask for a LOR?

Edit: I'm applying in 2016. Asking for next year cycle.

The earliest IMO is December. I asked for the majority of my letters in February and a couple in March. I went to a pretty large school so I wanted to make sure I asked ASAP. I personally believe that no matter what you should ask for letters by March at the latest.

Search must have broke in the server work they were doing.

If you were wondering though, Google can search SDN better than SDN can.

Just go to Google and search "site:forums.studentdoctor.net YOUR SEARCH TERMS" without the quotes.

Well hopefully the hamsters fix it soon then.

You can still search the forums if you click "home" on the top left.

I asked a year in advance, and kept in contact with my letter writers over the course of the year. I went to a small state school, so it was relatively easy to stay in contact with my professors lol.

It's punishment from a higher power for all the threads that were started without its blessing.

As was mentioned, Google gets you more relevant results from SDN than SDN's own search function. I really wish they'd add page views/number of replies as a parameter for searching within the site, and would allow these to influence results. When I search a common theme on SDN, like LizzyM scores, common acronyms or big posts on applying to medical school, I'd like to see the actual seminal post from which the idea originated, not some random user with 5 total posts asking about it.
