question:

vessel is found to contain...
8 mol of NO
2 mol of N2
4 mol of O2

N2 + O2 = 2NO

find value of Keq
---------------------------------------------
this is how I solve it but it's wrong according to the ans key

4^2/(2*4) = 2

ans said --> 8 is the ans
cuz
NO = 4
N = 1
O = 2

Isn't N2 still considered 1 mol although it has 2 atoms?:confused:

I think I remember this question from somewhere. I think what you're not mentioning is that it said the vessel is 2L. So to get the actual molarities, you have to divide each mole number by volume, so that's why you use 4,1,2 instead of 8,2,4.

and yes 2 moles of N2 is still 2 moles because you care about the number of moles of the molecule, not atoms.

Yes you must divide by 2 because the vessle is 2 Liters

(4^2)/(2 X1)

N2 is 1 mole and NO is 2 moles.
