I interviewed at a medschool in Dec. and they e-mailed me two days ago asking if I'd come back next week for another interview.
I've never heard of multiple interviews for medical school admissions.
My first interview was very short, and the woman did not seem to know anything about my application. That is the best explanation I can come up with but I was wondering if anyone else has ever had more than one interview day at a school.

I've heard of people requesting another interview when their interviewer was a jerk or something. But I haven't really heard of a school initiating it.
I'd go into it as a second chance and another chance to impress them that many people never get. They must be somewhat interested in you otherwise they wouldn't even bother

I also had a second interview at one school. I interviewed the first time in September and then heard from them in November, asking for a second interview. All they said was that they "needed more information before they could make a decision." My first interview wasn't bad; it was my first med school interview, so I was nervous but I thought it went fine. I can't really pinpoint what might have sparked the request for a second interview. I went back for the second interview and no one told me anything more--the mystery remains. But I got accepted to the school, so it worked out in the end.

wow, interesting. Never heard of that. Perhaps I'm being idealistic, but I'm sure the school recognizes that you are paying a good sum to make two trips there. Just a feeling...but they better accept you after your investment in their school!

It does sound odd - but it also sounds like they like you. Another interview couldn't hurt!

Hopefully the school isn't too far? Paying for a second airline ticket and hotel accommodations would seriously stink. 🙁

As would I unless I really liked the place.

OP, I would honestly probe some more about why a second interview is necessary.

Absolutely do this.

If you're holding other acceptances that you'd be willing to take, you could try to push them a little to see if you can get a regional interview or get them to cover part of the cost.

Absolutely. Unless you have 0 acceptances, you shouldn't have to go through a lot of trouble for this place unless you really, really want to got here.
