Graduating soon. Have full-time retail job in non-big 3 major northeast metropolitan area. Considered by everybody to be massively saturated city.

Offered per diem hospital job as well. Could lead to 'unicorn' full time job one day.

Only trouble is I didn't ever plan on working ~55 hours/week. The per diem job will eat up my weekends and otherwise free time.

Should I do it?

agree - if you want to do hospital - do the per diem, bust your ass, let them know you want full time, a per diem job is the best job interview. If a job opens up that you are qualified for, and don't get it - try again, if you don't get it the second time, they are not gonna hire you full time, then you can move on.

Take it, 55hrs isn't that bad...give yourself a time limit though to reevaluate.

Take it. As market is saturated and applications pile up, even getting PRN positions in hospitals are getting harder. Just hired 2 at my place, both were VA pharmacists, bother have 10+ years inpatient experience and came came highly recommended from people I know. There were couple residency trained applicants that looked good too, they would've been the next in line. Retail only applicants weren't considered. So if you have no inpatient experience and got an offer in a saturated place, you probably should seriously consider it.
