I finished my interview season and narrowed my list to my top 3 choices but I'm not sure that they are interested in me. They invited me back for a second look at the end of my interview day but when I contacted them (a week ago) to ask if I can take a second look, they have not responded to me. Should I be worried? It seems like if they were interested in me, they would have responded. Also, if these programs are not interested in me at all, it probably isn't worth the travel time and expense to go look at the programs because I might not be ranked anyway. Any input would be helpful....thanks!

Rose48,

I wouldn't sweat it. I don't think you can draw any conclusions from not hearing about your email for a 2nd look.

In general, I think the 2nd look is more for the applicant than the program. If you yourself are unsure of a program, or what you true #1 is, then perhaphs a second look will help light your way. On the other hand, I wouldn't expect programs to give you any extra bonus points for doing so. If you do it, do it for your own knowledge and edification.

If you do elect to do a second look, I think contacting them by email is appropriate. If you don't get a response, try calling the program coordinator or emailing the PD (if you think hs/she is open to emails). Good luck.
