I am going back for a second look and will be sitting in on didactics. Although I am going back for myself (i am very interested in the program), I don't want to ruin my chances if they have already ranked me. So, when I go should I sit quietly, or should I mingle with the residents (without trying to hard)? And should I just leave afterwards, unless if they ask me to stay back for something else? Any recommendations?

Thank you.

I'd probably just observe at didactics, unless you get strong signals that you're supposed to say something or if it's a very small group. As to whether you should just leave afterwards, if you are bothering to do a second look I'd hope you were there to do something other than just sit in a lecture.

I'd try to formally arrange via the chief resident (or whoever your contact is) to also follow a team on rounds, if your specialty rounds, which would probably be useful in making decisions. If it's too late for that, you could mingle with the residents the day of and see if someone will informally let you follow them on rounds. Either way you should certainly mingle with the residents if there is time before/after didactics and just be normal.

At the end of the day, if the day was arranged w/ the help of the program coordinator, I'd stop by their office to thank them for their help etc.
