I am really lucky to be in the position to have been invited to both WashU's and Johns Hopkins' second look weekends. Unfortunately, they are the same weekend. I do not live in either city, and both schools are paying for travel. The way the travel policies read, if I wanted to go to both I would need to pay for the flight between the cities. I had originally planned on attending both, but I am struggling to come up with reasons to attend WashU. I have already gotten a full tuition scholarship to JHU, I think I prefer the city over St. Louis, and it seems like the public health program (something I am very interested in) is much stronger.

Is it worth paying to attend some of the WashU weekend (and missing part of the weekend for the school I am 90% sure I will be attending) just in case I happen to really click with St. Louis or WashU? Is there some major benefit of WashU over JHU that I am not considering or does it make sense to just pull out of that weekend and enjoy the entirety of the Johns Hopkins weekend for free?

I have not made an X vs Y post yet as I am wanting to wait for financial aid to come through. I think if WashU offered me full cost of attendance I would attend, but I have combed through forums and it seems highly unlikely based on my financial situation and the fact that I have not yet heard from them about a scholarship. I guess I am imagining a scenario in which I either regret having missed half the weekend at Hopkins (my number one) and paid $200 to do it, or financial aid comes through and I regret having not gone to WashU because I now have to decide whether to move to a city and school I have never visited.

You may not wish to go to WashU's second look because you're fairly certain that they won't give you a scholarship, which sounds like a.dealbreaker for you. I am okay with that decision. However, I would not let $200 be the deciding factor.

If you are truly undecided, spend the $200 so you'll never need to wonder "what if...?". Just my thoughts.
