I just started second year and we are required to purchase a Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope headset and 20D, 78D and 90D lenses to go with it. Along with scleral depressor and a teaching mirror among other minuscule things.
Can any senior Doctors please comment about if it would be better to buy cheap equipment now and then upgrade when newer stuff comes out after I graduate or just buy near the top of the line new stuff when the representatives come by to our school? I am thinking of just buying used instruments because the direct ophthalmoscope for example is barely used in real world practice and I should have bought a used one rather than a new one.
Thank you for any advice and if anyone is selling used equipment please private message me 🙂
