Does secondary essay questions change from year to year for each school? Would you guys recommend to start writing for them now? I'm a slow writer so I want to get it out quick so people can proofread/edit them.

Thanks.

I think you should start with Tulane secondary. Most of the answers to their questions can be used in other secondaries or at the least give you good brainstorm for other schools' questions. Maybe also try BU.

Sometimes they change, often they don't. Check out the school specific thread for the schools you're interested in. Secondaries from previous years are available there and the new ones will be posted there as soon as they're available. If you're a slow writer, there's no reason not to get started now to stay ahead of the pack.

Totally agree! If the secondaries do change then I'm sure they wouldn't change significantly. So OP, it would be in your best interest to go ahead and get a jump start on those prompts from the previous years.

Are you anticipating on getting secondaries from schools which you have already applied to, or are you just trying to see what a secondary is like from a school you are applying too. The ladder situation is going to cause a heck of a lot of extra writting if the chance you aren't offered a secondary. If its the first situation and you have applied once alerady and did not get an interview, then are you sure you are taking the right approach to answering their questions. Do you see what i'm asking?

I applaud you for trying to get on the secondaries early! Many of my firends who go in said they turned their apps back in <72 hours after getting them. That can be tough if you are lucky enough to get a lot of secondaries all back at once!

Onwards!

This does not make sense to me. Either way, if OP is applying to these schools, he/she will have to complete these secondary essays eventually unless the school pre-screens.

Thank you all for answering. Are there a list of a pre-screened schools?

Check the school specific threads for the particular schools you are applying to. Most indiscriminately send out secondaries in order to pull in more revenue. 🙁

No way, are you serious? I find that slightly...illegal? Is that the right word? Well it should be illegal.

Of course it's true. Very few schools would pass up the opportunity to take $80-100 from every applicant regardless of whether or not the applicant even has a shot of being admitted.

Im not sure if im misunderstanding something but I went into the thread posted above and a majority of secondaries at schools I am interested in had very reasonable character limits (500 or 200) and any that were large 1000+ didnt have very many essay questions. Is there a particular reason people really stress over secondaries? Is it just the fact that a lot of them come in at the same time and people stress about making them perfect?

Yes and yes. Plus some people are not very good at cranking out a bomb essay in such a short period of time. You need to carefully craft these essays though by doing your research on each particular school.
