Do I have submit recommendation letters again for the secondaries... do they ask for them again? in addition to submitting them to Amcas? Also can I submit my amcas application without recommendation letters?

1) Technically, the recommendation letters are a part of the secondary applications. AMCAS in this respect only serves as a letter forwarding service. You submit them to AMCAS, and in AMCAS designate which schools they are to be sent to. On your secondary applications, you indicate which letters the school in question should expect.

So, in a sense, yes, they ask for them "again," but you're not sending them twice. You're only sending them to AMCAS and telling AMCAS where they should go.

2) Yes, but you'll probably get nagging emails saying that you have no letters entered.

The only thing you need to be mindful of if you're going to do that is this:

You can continue to add/assign letters after the initial submission of your application but you cannot edit or delete existing information after your initial submission.

If you know you're getting those letters, why not create the letter entries at the very least so that you have the letter request forms available?

My premed advisor is sending all the letters along with the commitee letter

My question still stands: why not create the letter entry in AMCAS?

I created a letter request form for my premed advisor already. Is that what you mean?

Yes.

To clarify, there's nothing advisable or inadvisable about submitting prior to AMCAS having received your letters. There is only the general caveat that comes with submitting, which is to make sure that you entered everything correctly. Once you submit, the changes you can make to your application are quite limited.

Does that answer your question?

Thanks...But once you submit your letters before submiting the amcas what can you possibly change? Meaning what changes can you make before that you cant make after.

Up until you hit submit, you can modify what schools are going to receive what letters. If you designate letter A to go to schools X, Y, and Z, then you can still choose to drop school Y from receiving the letter until you hit submit. If you hit submit and you've marked letter A as going to schools X, Y, and Z, you can no longer drop X, Y, or Z, though you can add school W.

But how can I deside which letters go where if amcas doesnt have them yet ? You mean I designate slots and decide which letters go where ? I plan on only designating one slot with a comitee letter/packet going to all schools.

Then go ahead and do that. AMCAS doesn't need to physically have the letters for you to say "I want letter A to go to schools X, Y, and Z."

I can always add slots later on or suppose I want to send an additional letter right?

If you create the entries for the letters but don't designate any letters to any programs, can you designate the letters for each program after you submit?
