Yes, many dental schools have secondary apps. Some ask for an essay or other questions.

Unlike med schools, not every dental school asks for a secondary. but they do ask for the processing fee!!!

for example: UCSF's secondary is more involved then the AADSAS application. They got 10 essay questions!!! UCLA has one two, but it's not as crazy as UCSF.

UNLV has a supplementary app, so does Creighton.

Tufts does not and neither does UOP (don't recall ever filling one out)

So how does this work??? after u send your AADSAS and the school recieves it do they send u the secondary or what? and how much of an extra "processing" fee?? i meann hell i will already be spending just about $700 for applying alone

I have a list of schools requiring 2ndary . Just PM me and leave your email and I will send you the file.

After AADSAS mails out your application, schools will get it and then send out a notice asking for more money and maybe a secondary application. All schools have a secondary fee which is about 50-75 bucks on average.

exactly!

here is a small list of fees from the schools I applied to:

Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health $60
Boston University School of Medicine $60
Creighton University $45
Harvard School of Dental Medicine $70
New York University $75
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) $75
Tufts University $60
University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) $50
University of Detroit Mercy $50
University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) $50
University of Southern California (USC) $65
University of the Pacific (UOP) $75

Yeah, it really adds up so only pick the schools you would actually attend if accepted and also have a good chance of getting into. At first, I went a little crazy and applied to like 15 schools but later reduced that down to just 7 or 8. That's a big difference if youz po like me.

Jeez... rediculous! So i have to pay AADSAS 60 bucks for each school, then another 60 for the schools?! INSANE! 😡

i remember a link that had all the stuff each individual school wants (fees, secondaries, etc). Anyone know what that was?

When you log in, click on the "Instructions" tab and then select "Dental School Supplemental Information".

thanks for the info everyone...
so what if you apply to say 15 schools, and receive however many secondaries, but later have decided not to even bother with some of the schools, can you just not fill and send the secondary?

Of course. However, the schools that require secondaries won't render your application complete until they've received your secondary. Thus, that would be akin to you withdrawing your application; your application won't receive further consideration. In any case, that is why researching the schools beforehand is SO important; that would save you from blowing $60 on the AADSAS fee for each school that you withdraw.
