My situation is somewhat unique. I spent the first few years (won't say how many years) tackling school with an undiagnosed disability. It wasn't until someone suggested I get tested that I realized I have a disability and received accommodations, resulting in my academic performance skyrocketing. If you only calculated the semesters I received accommodations, my GPA is pretty competitive. However, the first few years dragged me down.

I heard if schools send secondaries, they will review your application in depth. Is it true? Because I'll make sure to mention my situation on my personal statement and 15 activities or on the disadvantaged essay.

ALL schools review apps in depth. The wise @gyngyn has mentioned having to read the app of someone with a single digit MCAT score (in the old exam). Not a single sub-category, for the entire exam!!!

But also keep in mind that secondaries can be a tax on the hopelessly optimistic, if not pathologically naive.

That said, rising GPA trends are always good. You can mention your accommodations and explain your poor performance in part s of your secondary.

Do NOT do this in the PS! The PS is for "why Medicine? and "Who Am I?" In the PS, explanations merely end up looking like excuses.

It's actually in my PS for briefly because I know your PS is supposed to have a theme and thesis and I was able to fit it into my PS's theme. The manner in how I discovered I had a disability is actually the same theme I have for my PS. It was just a happy coincidence.
