Secondary Deadlines

I was just wondering...do secondary applications have deadlines. The reason I ask is because I am trying to decide how many schools to apply to. I have several schools which are definately my "first choices" but want to apply to more, essentially as backups. I know at least one of my two top choices is probably a bit of a reach, but still feasible. If I apply to more schools than I need to, can I hold secondaries for awhile to see what happens with the schools that I am most interested in? I do not have the $$ to fly to a bunch of schools for interviews, and have a hard time justifying the money for the secondary if I am not planning on interviewing there unless I have to. Would it look bad if I hold secondaries and do not get them returned in a timely manner?

honestly, i would try to send those secondaries back asap. most schools have deadlines in jan or feb, but there are some that want the secondary back in a month or so. if money is an issue, then only apply to the schools where you would go. good luck!
