When presented with a Q like this "What events in your life influenced your decision to become a physician?", what do you guys think of simply saying something like "As a 'non-trad' applicant, my personal statement is dedicated to this very issue. In the interest of the adcom's time, I would respectfully refer you to my personal statement." ???

On one hand, sure saying something else shows effort, interest, blah, blah, generally part of the game...but the truth is that this is exactly what my PS is dedicated to, I've spent a ton of time on it (and I'm getting a bit sick of the game). I think if I was an adcom, I'd say this guy has a confidence about him.

Whaddyathink?

Thanks in advance.

Don't hate tha playa, hate tha game!

I would try to put a new spin on it or perhaps elaborate some more.....

But I'm just some guy on the internet, you're going to do what you think is best...

If I were an AdCom person, I might think yes confidence but would think, wow he has my interest in mine in saving my eyes. Take that with a grain of salt thought 'cause I've never been on an adcom committee.

I don't think that's a very good idea. You want to show the adcom that you have many aspects to you and your application...and the question is asked for a reason (what school?) I would think you would want the committee to spend more time on your application, not less. If you have to, say what your personal statement says, but in a different way...use different examples etc.

Although confidence is good, I think that referring them to your PS may be past the line and into the realm of cocky. I think you should play it conservative and just try to come up with something that wasn't in your personal statement. I would guess that the school doesn't think that the word limit on the amcas personal statment is substantial enough for you to give all the reasons why you want to be a doctor. It's your chance to expand some of your ideas.

thanks...will do. I think I was caught in a 30 minute period of "what the f, I hate these essays" place. I'm sick of being so introspective - all day and night of thinking of just the right way to say this or that about myself on 25+ secondaries.

Mmmkk...back to it...thanx again.
