I recently got my secondary application for the University of Cincinnati and their secondary application essays for the MD/PhD program are exactly the same prompts as the ones required for the MD/PhD portion of AMCAS.

Is it alright to copy and paste? If not, what should I do? I'm not sure of how to go about expanding or revising them (particularly the one focused on your motivations for a combined degree). Is it shooting yourself in the foot to submit the same essay twice?

They have your essays already. The secondary is your chance to add or change these prompts. Is there anything else you want Cincinnati to know that wasn't on the first go round? At the very least include faculty you're interested in. I don't know what's on the rest of the secondary.

In summary, shooting self in foot? no. Boring? yes.

I would copy and paste with maybe something added toward the end about why that particular school. If they can't put forth the effort of coming up with some trite generic prompt then you don't need to get bent out of shape trying to come up with a new essay.
