Secondary Hyperparathyroidism and Pseudohypothyroidism

How do you distinguish these two other than apparent symptoms (kidney failure.. hereditary patterns)? I guess I don't see why AHO is called pseudoparathyroidism if PTH is high. I'm assuming it is more a matter of the effectiveness of the hormone rather than the levels of the hormone? Just having a hard time distinguishing between the two..
