Im starting to work on my secondaries- and not sure what to do about photos. I have one decent one of me in my graduation cap and gown that I like. Think that'll work or should be a passport photo?

Thanks

I feel like it doesn't matter as long as it's clear and professional.

professional as in done by a professional or as in not doing a keg stand? 🙂

You can just stand against a white wall, wear a suit, or at least a shirt and tie, and take it yourself. Or you can go to CVS or something and get a passport photo taken for a few bucks.

Agreed. The cap and gown photo gives the impression that graduation was your only professional moment!

Im a gal- But i can put on my interview suit and have a friend take it for me. Thanks

Also if you need to print them out and aren't comfortable cropping them yourself in a photo editor, www.epassportphoto.com is easy to use. You just upload the photo and they have an online tool where you can size and center it properly, then just save the jpeg it gives you and print it out at CVS/Walgreens/etc.

Why do you need a print-out? I am still waiting on primary verification so I haven't done the photo yet, but I thought it would be as simple as 1. taking a pic 2.cropping on photoshop 3.upload.

You only need a picture wearing a tie and jacket, so you could feasibly do it in your own home with no pants on.

Haha, I did just that. The pic came out good, with no hints that I was actually wearing swim trunks.

Just wanted to say that some schools ask for passport-type photos, and others just state a photograph. BU just said photograph, and I uploaded a picture of me in the mountains of Sparta, looking nice, but not exactly professional. Seems like they didn't mind, as I got an interview. I kind of did it with the thought that with the 12,000 applications they receive, they might remember that one more than others with ubiquitous black/blue suits and pearls.

Just my 2 cents. I also took some "professional" passport type pictures with Iphoto, then sent them to Walgreens and paid 2 dollars for 10 photos.

Rush - pay and submit online but have to send in signature form, photo, etc
Wayne State - email secondary, mail in payment, photo and other documents can be either

I also had to reformat my photo for a couple of schools. I ran into 100kb file limits, some want 2" x 2", others want 250pixels x 250pixels, as a pdf, etc.

That is what I was debating: i have some great pics on different trips i took, showing my personality and spunk- Or should i do the white while in the suit one?

I just sent them a picture of [m]e in a white shirt and tie.

My picture looks like I'm nice and dressy.

I have no pants on.

If you're not comfortable taking your own photo, you can get all dressed up and hit up the motophoto. They'll take a pic for you and it's like $12 for two passport sized photos.

I actually took those pictures and then decided to use my pics from graduation (not with cap/gown) instead just because it looked way more professional than me + white wall, so take that as you will...

This all seems a bit neurotic.. I cropped a picture from facebook of myself in a t-shirt sitting down smiling.

Anyone know if the resolution of the photo matters? Mine all look fine at 2x2 or whatever, but once I zoom in a little bit it becomes a pixely mess. Does anyone with experience know if this matters?

Agreed. It worries me that people actually need to ask questions about how to take a picture.

It won't matter.

Lol, I actually ended up using my theatrical head shot. Business casual so as to book the "young professional" jobs.

Agreed, I did the same thing. Sometimes this website makes me so nervous...:scared:

Sometimes you just have to sit down, breathe, and then ask yourself if this is real life. When you realize that the vast majority of people aren't this neurotic, it puts everything in perspective.
