Securing DO Letter?

Hi All

For those that have, how did you go about this? I don't have a working relationship with a DO, but I have shadowed a DO in Obgyn and psych. However, I just don't feel these interactions were enough to request a letter. Or maybe this is common practice?

It is.

Just ask, be polite and give them plenty of time to write it (2 weeks minimum).

Regardless if you’ve shadowed them for weeks or only for a brief amount of time, they will write you a letter if you have been polite and we’re a decent person to work with while shadowing them.

Just to reiterate the points above, most DO's know that DO schools like letters after shadowing a DO, so they probably have some idea that you may want a letter. Definitely ask as long as it went well.
