I have a funny/ Scary experience and I have some questions about it, I hope I can ask them here. I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANY MEDICAL ADVICE AT ALL.
I had an emergency procedure done, and while in the recovery room, I thought that I have no eyes (so my eyes where closed) and I was thinking, "what kind of creature am I? Am I a sperm? Am I an ameba?" and I thought that my legs were like a tail stuck together and I am trying to wiggle to get out of my cocoon. I then was so scared and pushed on my self, which I think made me open my eyes. Then it took me a minute to remember where I was. I called the nurse and I told her my experience ...she started to laugh, and said, "I do not know why they gave you hallucinogens" and I forgot what she said after that. My questions are:
1) Do they really give patients Hallucinogens, or is this too part of my imagination?
2) If they do give them, why do they do that?
3) Do they give Hallucinogen with Sedation, or do they give them with Anesthesia?
4) My experience was kind of funny when you think about it, but since I am in the psych field, I am interested to know if you ever heard of anyone having a scary of traumatizing experience?

Thank You

The only medication currently used in anesthesia that could be classified as a hallucinogen is Ketamine but what you described does not necessarily mean you were given Ketamine.
Sometimes patients have dreams and hallucinations on emergence from anesthesia even without Ketamine.

propofol makes people dream too, if it was ketamine you probably would have a hallucination and not a dream and you wouldn't have came out of it so fast

😍😍Bertelman, Planktonmd, and dhb THANK YOU SO MUCH for answering me. I will try to research these medications now. I do not know why I feel so anxious when I am ignorant about something. Now, you gave me the starting point that can ease my anxiety 😍😍
