I post today with a request for help from my colleagues. It seems my mother is developing trigeminal neuralgia, and to say it causes pure agony would be an understatement. I don't know yet if she's a candidate for microvascular decompression, but we're looking into it. If she has this done, I'll probably take her to a major regional center on the East coast, most likely Boston, NY, or DC, since our family has relatives in these locations.

My question to the group is that for those of you who have worked with prominent neurosurgeons in these locations, who's good?

As a fellow anesthesiologist, I'm well aware that just because someone looks good on paper, doesn't mean that translates to the OR.

I don't expect public replies, please PM me if you think you can help.

Thanks.

Best of luck to you. That is a difficult problem and, from what I hear from patients, excruciatingly painful. Our guy does very few, so I can't recommend. Hope you find someone good and she gets excellent relief.
