I am an IMG, recently graduated. I see myself as an average international student. I am planning to do usmle step 1. 🙂😀

Am seeking your help and advises regarding my study plan scheme:

Total time: am planning to do 6 months of full time studying starting from November [6-7hrs/day with 1 day off]

1st 3 months: reading Kaplan LN + watching Kaplan videos + reading FA of the related subject, then do Kaplan Q bank of the related subject in a timed mode.

Order of subjects: anatomy -> phys -> bioch -> micro -> pharma -> patho -> behSc

For patho am planning to do pathoma book + videos.

Subsequent 3 months:

Subscribe to Uw for 2 months + 2nd read of FA while doing UW & annotating UW notes

Last month: DIT + FA 3rd read + UWSA1&2 + revising notes.

I have several questions:

  • Do I need to include USMLERX q bank in my study plan?
  • What about HY Kaplan videos? Or better to focus on DIT & repeat it twice & not wasting more time & money!
  • What is the best time to start doing NBME in my plan?
  • Regarding the images, do I need to find a separate source to study them?

Thank you in Advance.😉

- I think doing RX with your first FA read would be a good idea.
- Why would you need HY short lectires if you've already watched the full lectures?!
- I'm still preparing for step 1 and I regret not taking one as soon as I've started.
- webpath is a great resource for images and anatomy learning.
Good luck!

Thank you adota for your replay.
Regarding NBMEs: you mean while am doing Kaplan vid & LN? or after finishing them.
Good luck to you too.

After one read. You'll know where you stand. Im taking mine next year and I'm going subject-wise eg. Cardiovascular embryo, anatomy, physio, patho, pharma then all from first aid with usmle rx. Then onto the next organ. After the first pass, i'll do an nbme. The first aid 2013 is better structured IMO with embryo now a part of every systems based review. USMLE Rx is very good for consolidating FA knowledge in your brain. Very very good. It's on a "Fall discount" at the moment. Id suggest make your mind up fast in order to take advantage of the discount.

Thank you Sanad for your advises.
I liked your way that ur going system wise. Do you use Kaplan LN & vid as your source?
ill consider USMLE Rx!!
Good luck in ur prepration.

Im using Kaplan vids and LN for all subjects except Physio and Pathology. Physio I'm using Physiology by Costanzo and for patho I'm going with Pathoma and Goljan RR. Im annotating whatever's missing in pathoma from Goljan. Ive signed up for USMLE World and USMLE Rx. Best of luck.
