OK, Im a Texas resident and a few of our schools added on biochem.😡 Will this schedule be "doable" for a semester? (to the adverage premed ie. not a total brainiac)
Evolution 3hr, Human physiology 3hr, Animal physiology/ lab 4hr, Ecology/ lab 4hr, Biochem 3hr? I do Genetic research 15hrs per week. Thanks
PS. This is the only way I can fit biochem in without taking it over the summer( Im horrible at summer classes) or delaying my application for this one class.

That sounds like alot... Couldn't you just put it down on your app as a class you plan to take?

Biochem isn't bad. If those are the only classes you're taking, you're still only taking 13 hours (even if they all are science). You've gotta fit it in, and I'd much rather do it during the year than the summer.
Yeah, I googled "biochemisty quiz" and majority of the questions are things Ive seen in molecular bio. Im also hoping since their all science class, that there will be a lot of overlap. Has this been the case for you?

But then I will not be complete. Pushing me back a semeter for only a 3hr class. Tech, UTSA and A&M require it now. I really want to apply to every school in Texas.🙁

If you've taken molecular bio then a lot of the material will likely be familiar to you. Same thing with cell phys.

Biochem does cover unique material that you may not have seen before (at least not to the level of detail you'll see it now), but it's really not that bad. If you have a strong chem background I definitely wouldn't worry about it. It's more conceptual than most chem classes and really is more memorization than problem solving (at least that was my experience).

You know you can take it during your senior year, right? Why can't you do that? I think that'd be the better option.

My advisor and I went over my schedule and my senior year is pretty much packed with 4-5 upper level science classes also. The second half is a little more "relaxed" but thats only for mcat prep.

looks like a schedule you can handle but only if you don't have any other commitments like a job or volunteering

It seems you just want to hear that you can't do it. You can do it if you just tried. Its not about being a braniac or average premed. You have an intuitiont hat it will require effort to do well in allt hose classes. that means you know what is expected of you now go and do it.

Good luck - but i shouldn't say that. I'll say, Good efforts

Uhhh no. But thanks for the overall advice.

Yeah I work but only on the weekends two days a week. I volunteer one day a week for three hours but I can drop that and pick it back up at anytime. So Im sure I will stop volunteering when classes start. I think Im going to go for it. Thanks🙂

the only thing that i would be concerned about is the labs since writing lab reports is really time consuming. you can easily spend hours doing one, although you wouldn't think that beforehand.
