Is anyone else self studying for the MCAT? I am just using my notes and I plan to get some practice tests and examcrackers books. What are you doing to prepare for it?

I scored a 36 on the MCAT, and just used EK and Kaplan to self-study.

I had two months to study, but had just finished a handful of upper-level science courses so everything was pure review. I studied for about 3-4 hours a day, and I would finish a chapter from biology and organic one day and another chapter from physics and general chemistry the next day (sometimes covering more than one chapter a day if certain concepts were extremely easy grasp/remember). I spent about two weeks with verbal reasoning on its own, and did fairly well.

Good luck.

I'm doing self-study.

I started May 20 and I'm scheduled to sit for the July 6th exam. I have been doing EK for content review and tonight will finish with all the chapters. Tomorrow I start with AAMC3, and will be doing ek1001, ek101 and TBR for three days, and on the fourth day I will take another AAMC. Rinse and repeat till July 4. Relax one day, and July 6 is my Day of Judgement.

Ya self study for 5 weeks before the test this June 21st, though the material is very familiar for me.
I'm using examkrackers books, kaplan tests, EK audio osmosis while falling asleep and while asleep, and all the AAMC practice exams.

Examkrackers is great, the chemistry bits are written by a true champ.

But I do study 10-12 hours a day.

Just so you know, studies have shown you don't learn anything by listening to audio tapes while asleep.

Practice tests are absolutely essential. AAMC, and others if possible. You need to consistently score in your desired range before you get into the exam room. Scores don't just randomly jump above the norm. The practice exams cost some money, but it is very worth it.

Studies show all kinds of things, whatever they want really. But the audio tapes help anyway. I tend to fall asleep imagining a little triglyceride get metabolized instead of worrying about whether i studied enough that day. And some things are explained better in the audio osmosis than in EK on paper. I recommend them.
