Sell my textbooks or keep them for DAT?

If our brain was like a computer hard drive, school would be done in a matter of minutes. Just load all that info into your hard drive and your set. It takes us too long to get information into our minds, and we end up forgetting most of it.
In the future we will have harddrives built into our heads so we can upload information in a matter of seconds and never forget it, like a computer. By then dental school or any school where you mostly get factual based knowledge would be a few seconds vs. XX years long. (Just taking into account the factual learning part and not the practical stuff)

uhhhh... okay.

anyways, back to the topic at hand...

i would say if you keep any book, hang on to your biology book. and even that i might not keep. fact is, you are going to want to purchase DAT review materials from Kaplan, TopScore, and maybe other subject-specific things such as ExamKrackers.

The things you need to know will be covered there. And if you do absolutely need a textbook, I'm sure you could borrow one for a few weeks while you studied for the DAT.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll sell my chem book after final this week! I hope I can get at least 50%.... 🙄

I kept mine. But then again i like Chem and i was chem major. Plus I'm tutoring people in all the basic sciences. I sold my liberal arts books, who cares about literature and history 😛

I kept mine and used them to do review problems. It was nice because I used the topics provided in topscorepro.com cd and did the examples in the middle of the chapters with the steps and stuff to figure it out.

you won't get much for them selling them back. I think you need a few more weeks than "a couple" to study for the DAT. The text books are a good resource for you.

I too did the same...a chem major also...I probably should have got rid of the chemistry bookls though, I never use them. That big green biology Campbell book does come in handy though.

Sell them unless you want to browse them in the future. It's a simple as that. You won't need them to study persay. Studying from them for the DAT will build your base knowledge, but it's better to use something that contains only high-yield information, IMO.

For those of you who already took DAT, did you keep your chemistry and biology textbooks to study for DAT?

U dont need any of those books sell all of them expect for one general bio book for reference. The Kap book is more than enough
