I am thinking that maybe it would be a good oppertunity for me to get out of this tiny corner of the country and go live somewhere else for 4 years of pharmacy school. I know I will never move away from my family, but I am itching for an adventure and something different and I think this is a great oppertunity for me to think outside of my comfort zone and try another city out for a bit.

So...since I have only really been looking at schools in GA, I don't really know much about any other schools.

My preferred type of place would be really laid back people and beautiful scenery.

Tell me why your school is awesome. 🙂 Please 😀

You pay me $1. Take the whole thing.

Why can't summer last forever?

My school is alright - we have the newest campus in the US - very nice facilities Faculty is dedicated and largely very talented. Denver is a nice city in the most beautiful state in the country. Admission is competitive - 1800+ apply and 150 get in - much like every other school.

Yeah Denver was one place I was thinking about. I am just figuring out that almost every school has more prereqs than Mercer and UGA. GAH

That is annoying because I would have to wait a year longer just so I could move to another state...UCSD looks like it has the same prereqs - but it also accepts like 7 out of state students 🙁 so that's a LONG SHOT.

LECOM Bradenton looks like an option...I can't figure out if that place looks cool or boring 🙄. It is a drive-able distance from home though.

:::sigh::: I really just want to move to Hawaii and live with Jack Johnson  That would solve this whole problem 😉

Only two schools here? Surely there are more than two schools represented on SDN.

Have you heard anything about ETSU? East Tennessee State University. I am heading into my 2nd year there and will be there for 8 and love it. The campus is a very laid back. You also are in the mountains with beautiful scenery! I saw your post and it kind of described ETSU. I would at least check out the website and see what you think. www.etsu.edu Hope you like it! I also give campus tours so if you have any questions I should be able to answer them!

The website looks nice. Do they have a pharmacy school? I'm having trouble finding it on there.

Come to WVU. We have booze.

LOL.

I went to Oregon State for undergrad, and there is lots of construction on campus. There are a lot of neat people and I loved the school. The facilities are either REALLY NICE or REALLY OLD.

Going to Creighton University right now. I love this school also, great campus, really friendly people who are extremely competent. The Omaha area is very underrated.

The Smokies are beautiful, but where I come from we call those things "hills":

Sorry, couldn't resist - just pulling your leg. 🙂

So mountains are basically just the same thing, but without vegetation?

You catch on quick, Flatlander. Yes, mountains have a thing called a timberline above which only certain things, like grasses and mountain goats grow. 🙂

I suggest you look here:

Temple University School of Pharmacy

The one draw back is the campus is located in a less than desirable part of town.

The Pro's:

  • The smallest big city in America.
  • Amazing city if you are a history buff.
  • Great sports town.
Phillies (Baseball)
Flyers (Hockey)
Sixers (Basketball)
Eagles (Football)
College basketball (The Big Five)
  • 90 Minutes from New York City.
  • 4 hours from Washington DC.
  • 2 hours from the ocean. Beach in the summer.
  • 2 hours from the mountains. Ski in the winter.
  • A great restaurant town.
  • Cheese Steaks and Hoagies
  • Tastykakes
  • The Mummers
  • Great job opportunities while in school
Access to hundreds of pharmacies both chain and independent to work at while in school.
Access to dozens of hospitals to work at while at while in school.
Access to major pharmaceutical manufacturers.
All that and you get a great education at a school that cares if you graduate.....

That just means that our vegetation is more badass.

No dude. Your vegetation is allowed to grow because of the lower altitude. Bring your vegetatin to a higher altitude and see if it grows.

Hey, don't get me wrong - there's something to be said for vegetation. I love trees - and I've collided with many of them hiking in East TN. Just wanted to quantify the word "mountain" at the expense of JrayETSU. I grew up in TN, so I get the pride in the Blue Ridge Hills - they're beautiful. 🙂 I have a whole photo album or two of pictures.

Do you guys have kudzu in WV?

But if you were to bring WV vegetation to wherever the hell it is, it would surely thrive. Because it's badass.

Yeah I could not find it on the site anywhere either, but here is the link http://www.etsu.edu/pharmacy/. Haha yeah I here the same thing about my "mountains" all the time. lol. When you are from Nashville they are huge though. Mountain or hill still beautiful lol. 🙂

University of Southern Nevada:

Pros:
It's located next to Las Vegas 🙂

Cons:
It's located next to Las Vegas 🙁

Actually, the above are older mountains than the rockies. That's how the rockies will look eventually.

I'd also go with CON: very inefficient admissions office. They run away with your application fee sometimes and spend it on Olive Garden from what I've heard...

Man....all these great places to go to school and pretty much ALL of them would take me a year longer to complete the prereqs. How sad!

Olive Garden sounds gooooood atm.

Come to the University of Michigan!

You could be that one person in a yellow shirt!

 wow I actually DID LOL

Man I am just itching to get out of this town all of a sudden...I've never wanted to move and now I can't get the thought out of my head. I need new surroundings for a bit. I want to see something besides this town!!🙄

I LOVE Touro Cali!!! I'm really enjoying starting rotations as a P3 in their 2+2 program- I can't imagine going through another year of classes, the practical experience so far is so much more useful for me. Also, San Francisco is 45 min away and Napa only 15-20 min!

University of Iowa is a great school. The pharmacy school here also takes a lot of out-of-state students, so you'ld probably have a good shot. I can't really sell Iowa too much, but Iowa City is your quintessential college town and you are surrounded by acres of peaceful farm land. We have booze too.
