What is a semester hour? is a 3 hour per week semester course 3 semester hours? And one with lab 4? My university gives .5 credits per semester class, lab or no lab. So 60 credits is a 4 year degree. How would I calculate my gpa for AAMCAS?

It seems to me then that you would just double your credits for each class. If a class is listed as 1.5 credits then it is probably a 3 credit class to AAMCAS. Most degrees are about 120 credits under the more common credit system. In that system each hour of lecture per week is considered one credit. Labs are usually awarded one credit per 3-hour lab session per week. Of course this isn't set in stone or anything but it is the most common method for determining credit hours (or semester hours or whatever the school happens to call them).
