Send DAT now or in September?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is a situation that many people face during the application process. Do you apply early and risk a chance of rejection or do you apply later with better scores? Hmm. It's a tough decision to make. You have pretty good DAT scores. The only thing really holding you back is your GPA, although it's not bad at all. However, you indicated that you have a positive GPA trend which looked upon favorably by admissions committees.

No one here can give you a definitive answer as to what you should do. Every school has their own policy on how to handle applications. Try to contact an admissions officer at the schools you want to apply to and ask for their advice. They'd be able to give you a more specific answer as to how to go about applying to their school.

If it's worth anything to you at all, I had similar stats as you posted, and I didn't complete my application until late September / early October, and I still got interviews. Good luck! :luck:

I'm sort of in a similar boat, though my GPA is slightly lower than yours and my DAT is slightly higher. I'm retaking the DAT, but gave those 23 schools I applied to, advanced notice that I'll be retaking it during the first week of November. I sent my applications in already, because I didn't want to get caught late in the rolling admissions cycle at some of those schools.

But I did have one question for you -
I don't know how rigorous your grad biotech program will be ... but being knee deep in grad work and prepping for another round of the DAT might leave you a bit stressed for time. Do you think you can swing for the fences on both ?
