In haste of trying to get my PS out in time for the deadline, I realized that it needed minor revisions. I noticed that most of the programs didn't even download my application yet so I replaced my PS with a newer one last night. I was wondering if they will see both or just the new one. On ERAS it says something like if you de-select your original PS but assign a new one, the new one overwrites. However, using the track applications tool, the programs that downloaded my file today had downloaded both personal statements. I hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot and gave them two copies. Anyone else in the same situation in the past?

I was wondering about adding some information to my personal statement as well, but many programs have downloaded mine.
Would it be better to email a program with an update/revision or to replace the PS?

Programs will only see the personal statement you assign them. While it looks like they downloaded the old version, in reality, at their end the old one is overwritten by the new one. This has been confirmed on the general ERAS forum by aProgramDirector.
I ended up finding typos twice and ended up assigning version 3 of my personal statement. So unless programs printed out my file and never reprinted it, they will never see my old versions.

According to ERAS
When a document is assigned to a program to which you have already applied, you can no longer make changes to that specific document. The concept is the same as placing the document in the mailbox and mailing it, you would not be able to get it back. If you wish to assign another document in its place, then the program will download both documents. However, the new document will overwrite the old document. Depending on the length of time between the de-assigning of the old document and the reassigning of the new document, the program typically will not have access to the old document, unless, they have already printed a hard copy of that particular document.

If you want to make a change, you must de-assign the original document; create a new LoR record or personal statement, and assign the new document in place of the old document.
