I was wondering if you apply very early without having your DAT scores in, is the application sent to the schools and do they look at your application? or does AADSAS wait till your DAT scores come in and then send the application to the schools. I was thinking of taking DAT around may 25-29 to give my self lots of room to get good studying in because i dont want to retake it but i do want to apply as early as possible and i have heard you can do so without taking the dat. I dont quite understand how that works where you can apply without DAT scores in, if someone can help me i would really appreciate it. i know the apps open on june 3rd so which batch would my application be in if i take the DAt on say may 26th.

thank you in advance.

You can submit your application early but if it is your first time taking the DAT schools will wait to look at your application until they receive your scores. I say submit early because that will take a while to process but it only takes a couple weeks for DAT scores to be sent.

Even if it isn't your first time taking the DAT but you have a "future test date" written in on the application, the school will hold your app. Still apply early though. That way your application can go through the process as soon as they receive your scores.

I submitted early and a few days after I took the DAT, I called my school and told them my scores and asked if there was anyway to get my application moving now instead of waiting two weeks to get my scores. They had me fax my unofficial score report so they could get started. I was offered an interview the day my official scores were received by the school. So definitely a good idea to submit early.

I agree! Go ahead and apply! It will take a little while for your grades to be verified. You can contact the schools and check to see if they consider unofficial scores.

As others have said, apply as early as you can, just to get it out of the way. If there's any hold-up processing your transcripts or calculating your GPA, you won't have to worry as much about a delay. But schools won't look at your application until it's complete.

I always roll my eyes at people on SDN who say they were first batch despite not having their DAT or letters in until September or something. The date your application is sent to schools is meaningless for most. Your application complete date is what really matters. You shouldn't be in that situation with a May DAT, though.
