Sending DAT score??

Hi.

I took DAT on 12/31/2010. At that time, I did not send my score to any schools.

I heard starting this cycle, ADA will automatically send DAT scores to AADSAS which will then send to dental schools.

I have emailed AADSAS about this and they have said this is wrong information.

My e-mail from dental schools clearly state that AADSAS will send DAT scores to them.


Do I need to send it myself from ADA to dental schools?

I need response from people whose score is verified on AADSAS

I'm in a similar situation - took my test back in September 2010 and didn't release my score to any schools. I called ADA and they said that I have to send my scores to each individual school that apply to and that these scores will not go through AADSAS.

From http://ada.org/dat.aspx (scroll to step 5) I understand that ADA sends the DAT scores to the schools you chose on your DAT application. Since you did not chose any schools initially, you need to use the "Request Score Reports" link which you can find also in Step 5 on that webpage ($25 per school). Crazy and expensive all these hoops we need to jump through in order to further our education!!!...

I am a re-applicant. Last year 2011, the Supplemental list showed some schools asked an official DAT score from ADA. However, I noticed the supplemental list for 2012 shows most of schools don't ask for an official DAT score. From my understanding, we still need to pay $25 to release an official DAT score to school. However, DAT scores are already available to schools even if we didn't pay $$, and schools this year is not asking for an official DAT score.

I am not 100% sure. I didn't pay $25 per schools, though.

Anyone knows how to attach a PDF file, here? I have a complete supplemental list for 2011 to compare with one for 2012.

You have to go pay the $25 per school to "release them" since you didn't initially. I took mine July 2010 and I didn't designate either, so you just go on and pick the schools you want to send your scores to. Unfortunately, its expensive, but it is the only way, AADSAS won't get your scores unless you do this.

I had this exact same problem. If you did not designate any schools at the time of your DAT, you have to send an official score report to ONE school. Sending it to one school will release it to AADSAS and AADSAS will send it to the rest of the schools you applied to. This is how I solved my problem and all the schools have my scores now.

I see. Thank you so much!! I would have wasted $200. Now, I only have to spend $25. Does it matter which school I send it to?
You are saying if I send to any one dental school, they will send my official copy to AADSAS which will send to remaining dental schools. right?

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. It does not matter which school you send it to. When you call ADA and AADSAS, they might give you unclear answers, which is what happened to me. However, what I said is exactly what I did. Hopefully, it works for you too.

Just called AADSAS and was told that you only need to send your scores to one school (if you didn't designate for them to be released to any schools during the time of your DAT), so that AADSAS will release to the other schools you apply to. You do have to check whether any of your schools require an official DAT score report from ADA.

bumping an old thread... but on topic, anyone know how long it takes for scores to come up on AADSAS if you request the score after the test? I waited 3 weeks thinking it would happen automatically, then i sent official score report to 1 school ($25).... its been another week, any ideas?
