sending out DAT scores

I just wrote the canadian DAT but i choose a couple of american schools to have my score sent to. I know the application cycle starts this summer so should I contact them to let them know that I will be applying this summer? Are they going to keep my DAT scores on file or will they just discard it?? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
