Hi everyone,

I'm chest-deep in the current application cycle and am wondering whether or not it is standard practice to send out Fall 08 semester grades to schools that have not given you a decision yet. Do most people do this? Or only if they will positively influence your application? I understand that any school to which you matriculate will require a final transcript, but is the sending of grades mid-cycle required?

Thanks for looking! In case anyone can tell, I'm in the boat of people who are suffering from a serious case of senioritis and my grades are likely not going to be a strong as I'd like... 😛

If your fall semester grades would in any way be a negative, then don't send them in via update letter. It is not expected or required that your provide them. Providing them is more of an excuse for expressing continued interest in the school, and/or to shore up a borderline application. If your fall grades are going to be bad, be happy that an admision decision can be made without them. Unfortunately, if you don't get in this season, you will have to submit them next year. So keep them high.
