For supplements, do you just stick a check in an envelope and call it a day or do you need to write an explainatory letter explaining who you are and what the money is for?

That's what I did. Dental schools will know what it's for. You might want to put your AADSAS Application ID on the check so they know who wrote it.

It would be nice if you attached a short letter saying what the check is for and hint that you want to go to their school. Make it sound like you're eager to hear from them after they get your supplemental application.
