You could have your PI write a LOR on your behalf then upload it to select schools via amcas. Or send the abstract. Or both. And maybe an explanation of how the research is relevant to what you want to accomplish at school X. Is the manuscript going to publication?

1) Make sure the schools accept updates
2) Send them news about the grades; that's more than admirable, BTW.
3) Ignore the other stuff. Anyone can say "I've started doing this. Publications don't count until they're, well, actually in press or published. I could make my CV 50 pages long by having "MS in preparation" in there.

Currently waiting on ~18 schools, pre-hold at one of them and it's getting late in the cycle

Got a 4.0 in Fall Term so I sent those grades to schools to look at.

I have also been working in a new research lab and currently working on a manuscript for publication. What would be the best/appropriate way to update schools on my work? Should I send them the abstract?
