There is a school I'm interested in and I already have a decent DAT score from 2 years ago. I'm planning on taking the DAT soon but I don't want my ideal school to get the new scores if they are worse than before. Should I just send them to some random school? Do you even have to send them to anyone? I thought when I took it the first time I got to choose 3 free schools or something. Any ideas?

When you originally register to take the DAT exam, you are allowed to specify 5 schools that you can have your scores sent to for free. I believe once you've specified those schools, the ADA will automatically forward your scores to those schools.

In my case, I didn't specify any because I didn't know where I was going to apply. Now that I know, when I called them about getting those 5 free schools they said tough luck. In other words, I had to pay $15 per school for every school that I applied to.

In your case, I would venture to say that if you submit payment to ADA and have your previous scores sent to dental schools before you take the next test you should be fine. However, if you decide to submit scores after you've taken your second test then the ADA will send your updated record of both scores...no picking and choosing if that's what you mean.

ADA only send out the most recent scores to the requested schools~

When you say ADA are you refering to Addsas? If so, wouldn't I need to complete my Addsas package and have that submitted before I even retake the test, then update my profile to include the new test score?

After being out of school for 2 years I'm not sure if my score will improve so I definitely don't want to mess up a good score with a more recent worse score.

U request DAT score from ADA not AADSAS. Most schools requires offical DAT score send directly from ADA. You can update your DAT score after u submitted
ur AADSAS application, but they are not responsible for sending the scores to each school u applied.

I know ADDSAS doesn't have my DAT scores, they simply have a place on the application where you enter in your scores as part of the app process. So what I'm thinking is as long as the school has my first DAT score from ADA before I have retaken the test then they shouldn't get the newer score unless I specificly tell ADA to send it to them right? In otherwords, ADA doesn't send out my DAT scores unless I tell them to.

I guess so.
