Senior Resident/Intern Expectations

Is it common for senior residents to sit down their intern on the first day and give them a list of duties and expectations?

I had a resident do this once when I was an intern and I am thinking of doing this.

Hi

I think it's a very good idea to tell them what you expect. I had some coaching on being a senior resident, and this was one of the advices. Try not to emphasize too much that you're above them, but with them instead, so they will be more comfortable asking you questions.
