So I just got a C in comparative anatomy. My overall GPA is now a 3.79. My first semester of college, I got a C in trig, but I got all A's up until this fall. I know medical schools like to see an upward curve in grades, I'm just wondering if this is going to completely ruin my chances at admissions. I am taking the MCAT in January and I will apply this summer.

Probably not ruined, but you'll likely get asked about it in interviews. Getting a C in trig sr yr just before the MCAT also may not be particularly helpful come MCAT time in a month, either. Regardless, what's done is done, so just keep on going and do your best to recover from your mistakes. Honestly, 1 C isn't going to kill you.

In my anecdotal experience, I have not been, nor do I know of anyone who has been asked about specific grades in classes (even people with a C in a prereq). Overall cGPA and sGPA are important though.

I think the "trend" is only important if you're moving up or down regularly across several semesters. 1 C shouldn't have too big of an effect.

I got a C- in Pchem fall semester of my sr year. One interviewer out of 12 asked me about it and it happened to be at a "lower-end" school. You should be fine. Having said that, comparative anatomy is more closely linked to medical school material than Pchem so I would be prepared to answer any questions about it well.

As for your chances, I have a very similar overall gpa and have multiple acceptances. But as you know it's about more than just numbers or a C on your transcript. Don't beat yourself up!
