I'm a senior in my last semester and I feel like I may get a B in biochem & possibly in genetics lab. I barely got an A on the first exam, but I'm feeling uneasy about the 2nd exam I just took yesterday. I still have one more exam to go and the final (optional) replaces your lowest exam. If I do get a B it'll drop my cgpa to around a 3.84 and sgpa to a 3.77.

Is this a big deal? I haven't made a B since like sophomore year so my upward trend is good, but this may ruin it. I've read that once your gpa is past a 3.8 your mcat has much more weight, is this valid?

Ahh alright, I guess my neuroticism got the best of me since many ppl with a higher gpa than mine are posting about having 0 interviews so far

It's not because their GPA could be higher. They have met the most school's expectations as far as the GPA goes already. If they have a solid MCAT it's not because their MCAT could be higher. Perhaps their personal statements could have answered key questions better, activities written about better, letters of rec been better, etc.

Also, I'd be willing to bet that at least half of the GPA's/MCAT scores you are quoted are not completely honest. I can't tell you how many people have no idea AMCAS recalculates their GPA in the least favorable way possible.

That could be for a number of reasons lol

I’ve heard this every year I’ve been at my undergrad:
“WELL I HEARD THAT THIS KID WITH A 3.9 AND A 515 DIDNT GET AN INTERVIEW ANYWHERE IN TEXAS AND NOW HES REAPPLYING”

Well, did he have research? Clinical experiences? Nonclinical service?
No?

To quote Goro, 4.0/520 automatons are a dime a dozen.

I know a 513 and a 521 who are about to get their asses handed to them when they apply unless they start cramming in ECs.
And I've warned them about it too

Like how simple minded do you have to be to study months for the MCAT but not spend maybe 2-4 hours a week volunteering or a few hours period researching the process

Right??? If I had a nickel for every premed who thought it was all about academics...

A lot of people tend to overemphasize ECs over numbers too. 2 first author pubs don't mean **** if you're barely passing Orgo

I think a lack of savviness can be telling and can indicate the person is just going through the motions , like they don't actually truly want to go to med school lol

Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.
