"The slight deviation from linear behavior within the family that is observed with H2S and HCl is used by some chemists to argue that the two compounds form very weak hydrogen bonds. This deviation is small compared to the ones observed in NH2, H2O, and HF, so any hydrogen bonding is minimal in HCl and H2S (if not negligible)."

How is HCl or HF DEVIATED from linear geometry? There's only 2 atoms.

Thanks.

Is it talking about the TREND in properties starting with HF, HCl, HBr, then HI? Then it is talking about the line connecting the points in the property trend.

Also, H2S is not linear, it is bent, at about a 105 degree angle (like water). So it would be talking about the trends in the properties of H2S as well.
