When doing timed practice passages, is it better to set the timer with the time/passage or the total time for all the passages?

E.g. If I plan to practice 3 verbal passages and my goal time is 7 min/passage, should I:
1. Reset the timer to 7 min each time I start a passage (to assure I am completing each passage in my goal time)
or
2. Set the timer to 21 min at the beginning (to adapt to dividing my time by intuition/more closely mimic the MCAT conditions).

Great question, I've been doing 7 minutes per passage to try to get my timing down for each passage.

I would love to hear what others has to say though!

I just started studying yesterday, but I like timing them separately. I think its really important at first to be able to make sure you are able to sense how much time you are allowed for each one. That way when you do FLs you know when you need to move on.

How do you guys time the discretes?
