my thoughts on the test
bio - i used destroyer/kaplan book for my studies. it wasnt bad, but there were a few questions here and there that referred to upper level bio labs. destroyer is a good example of what to expect, but there are curveballs.
chem - this is my weakness, and i tried to improve on it with schaum's/destroyer/kaplan. i guess i just suck. i felt that there were lots of tricky questions so be careful. very few calculations [~5-6], more conceptual.
orgo - i dont know how, i wasn't expecting to get 20 at all. destroyer helped alot on this [roadmaps] and kaplan did ok with the concepts. i cant even give advice on this because alot of the questions i felt like i was guessing. luck? maybe.
rc - i thought it was easy, same difficulty as the first time i took it. lots of detail questions, and i had a handful of 'tone' and 'implied' questions. all i can say was that my first passage was boring as hell but the last 2 made up for it. oh yea only 1 hard core sci rc, and 2 easy stuff. my strat for reading was to speed read and hit the questions within 3 minutes. so i had roughly 17 minutes to answer questions for each passage.
qr - damn, it was hard, and time is not your friend. lemme just say, get your trig down, because there are alot of it now. i had ~5 trig questions. and on the other side there are easy questions as well, so my advice on this, if a question looks like it will take you longer than 1 minute to do, skip it and come back to it later.
pat - it was a bit difficult for me this time around as i had a huge stomach ache in the middle of it. messed up my concentration and focus. i ended up wasting more time on each question and sweating watermelons. time wasnt on my side this time as the first i was able to complete it with 20 minutes to spare. thank god for the break in between pat and rc...
so at the moment everything is out of my hands, im done, im glad, but a bit worried still. i feel a bit disappointed at my lower pat score. even tho my advisor told me that i had a few points to spare on the pat as long as i bring my aa and ts up. so i hope he is right.
im still reviewing the material and making sure i dont forget it because i might have to retake if i dont get accepted this cycle. so we will see....any predictions from fellow sdner's?
