Okay on the aadsas app, there's a question asking if you're applying to any other professional schools in the health field. well i figured i'd apply to med school just in case i couldnt get into dental and so i wrote that!!!! but now i'm kicking myself for it b/c i'm afraid it looks bad?!?!?!?!? does anyone else have this problem? i didnt want to lie and say i wasnt applying elsewhere b/c i figured it'd be worse if i got caught.

ugh.

If you are also applying to med school, you should be honest about it and list that as well. I think it is pretty likely that it may hurt you chances, but probably not to the extent of making acceptance impossible. I would suggest calling individual schools to explain the situation.

has anyone else gotten in while saying that they were applying to med?

Serious Answer:
Don't lie (or try to hide the truth) about anything on your application. Yes it might hurt you but if you don't tell them and they find out after you've been accepted, you could lose your seat. Honesty is always the best policy.

Definitely be honest with the question. You don't want to complicate things any further by lying on your application and having dental schools find out later. If you have a legitimate reason as to why you are choosing dentistry over medicine, then there's no reason to be afraid to answer this question.

I've never heard of anyone apply to med school as a backup plan if dental school didnt work out. You always hear it the other way around.

So if you got into both Med School and Dental school you would choose dental school?

It looks like you are willing to accept what every you can get without any true passion. But its best to be honest and up front, than explaining it later.

of course dentistry is my top choice, and if i get into both, i'm definitely going to dental. i do have a passion for it, i just didnt want to waste another year. i think i'd be happy as a doctor too, so i figured i'd apply to my school's med school just in case. u've never heard of ppl applying to like pharmacy as back up?
