Hi everyone, I am seriously stressed out about a problem I've encountered and could use all the help I can get. I'm located in Texas and for instate apps we used tmdsas.

I have taken bio 1&2 at the university. I was under the impression that I could take A&P 1 and that would satisfy my lab. However, it seems that I have been mistaken according to my new advisor who is contradicting my old advisor (who's former adcom).

My schedule is very tight and locked so it doesn't seem to be possible to add this bio lab course at my university. Furthermore, this bio lab class is dreadful and I would really like to avoid it.

Any advice? I could use any advice as I was planning to graduate in December 2013 but now might have to prolong it and apply late because of this

Take one lab in the fall and the other in the spring semester. You're not going to be able to apply until summer 2014 anyway. If not then take them during the summer. You only have to finish pre reqs before matriculating, not applying.

I'm not sure how A&P could fulfill a lab requirement (unless it's different in TX)?

It seems you still need to take the intro bio lab. I would rearrange to fit it in this fall semester if you want to graduate in Dec. 2013. Otherwise, you may have to take the lab in the spring and be a part time student.

There really is no other way around. I don't believe there is a single school that doesn't require 1 year lab with 1 year of biology.

You might be able to do a summer program at a local state college and maybe just ask to do the labs or something, since some schools have accelerated programs.

But other than that, you just need to take the lab buddy.

Don't know if it is the same at your university, but here, Bio I is not a pre-req for Bio II lecture or lab. If that is the case, try seeing if there are any open Bio II labs available for late registration today, and then take Bio I lab in the fall.

Bio Labs are combined at our university. As a result, I take one bio class and that usually satisfies the requirement.

Hmm, so my plan was to study for the MCAT during Spring 2014 and take it April 2014. So I could technically apply early in May 2014 and still get in on time?

What if I stayed on schedule to graduate in December 2013, but took the bio lab class in Spring 2014?

No, the earliest you can apply is in June 2014 when the primary application opens for submission. If you don't understand how the application cycle works, I would recommend reading some of the links in the applicant sticky.

Just wanted to update in case anyone cares.
I decided to take the class at a community college. Hopefully it won't be as dreadful as the one at my University.
