has anyone ever participated in any service trips to do medical work in poor countries? if so, what organization did you go with, and do you recommend it?

Where are you from?

Yes, I've been going on dental mission trips to Central/South America with my dad (general dentist) since I was 10 (been on 13 total). If you get the chance to go, do it. It will change your life. It is an absolutely amazing experience to be able to see how most of the world lives and to be able to help them in a small way. The best way that I know to find trips is through the Christian Dental Society. Here's a link to a list of trips people have posted on their website:

Another good place to look would be Operation Smile, but odds are you'll get to be more involved if you go on a smaller trip with just a couple of dentists. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
