You’re avoiding the entire thing. Let me rephrase your question:
Veteran can get $3k/month in tax free income, free college for their kids in some places, and other things, IF someone says they have PTSD. Why is the person, who self selected into a violent profession, aggressively seeking that diagnosis? Maybe it’s the money. Maybe it’s because society will “give” them a mulligan for domestic violence/dui, if they have that diagnosis.
Name another profession that has its own criminal justice system.
Significantly more than $3k/month if you include caregiver support payments. I know of several cases where disability income is the most they ever earned outside of the military. Many are not hiding it either. Just check reddit and walk into the DAV.
Veterans courts will let them slide on more than domestic violence. I know a few that got months instead of years for assault with a deadly weapon.
