Hi everyone,
I have been diagnosed and currently struggling with severe dry eye for a while. I wear goggles 24/7 to reduce the symptoms. There are days where I find difficult and extremely painful to even keep my eyes open. I was wondering if anyone in medicine has moderate to severe dry eyes and how you deal with the long hours and lack of sleep (which makes symptoms worse).

i haven't gone to the doctor yet for my dry eyes, but i've considered it many times because my eyes seem to hurt a lot more than they should. sometimes i have to go to bed or take a nap not because i'm tired but because my eyes hurt. the problem is not related to how less i sleep, but how much i read/stare at the computer. right now i just started med school, so i'll have to see how much it effects my grades. my health comes first for now, and if i need to, i'll look into taking Restasis.

Don't want to give out medical advice, but do you wear glasses?
I had a similar problem. My optho recommeded I try getting a pair of +1 reading glasses from the pharmacy. It helped tremendously.
Maybe just get an eye exam for computer use. You can get a prescription just for that as well.

I suffer from dry eyes post LASIK eye surgery. I've come to accept that I'll be drowning in eye drops for the rest of my life. I sometimes wonder if this condition might make surgery too uncomfortable to go into due to prolonged time without being able to use drops. I'll have to see.

I have sensitive/dry eyes and I start tearing up real easy if I strain my eyes too much.
I have had to let me preceptor know for my clinical skills exam for ophthalmology part that I wasnt really crying from using the Opthlamoscope
