Hi everyone:

I am new here and had a quick question in anticipation for the opening SF Match:

Do programs know what programs and specialties you applied to? Let's say you apply to cornea and retinal fellowships, will the programs know that you are applying to 2 different specialties?

Thanks,

I’m assuming if you apply to the same institution they will def know, otherwise probably not. But better to decide what specialty you want then go for that instead of the shotgun approach

It will be hard to write a personal statement that doesn’t belie your ambivalence.

The cornea is the window to the soul (retina)?

Now you're speaking my language 🙂

And...the other fact is that the heart of the eye is the ciliary body.

In my experience, if you go to a very well regarding residency program and have well-known mentors, you probably won't shoot your foot off by applying to both if you have those people supporting you.

Though I agree it might be a difficult situation to navigate and talk your way through.
