So heres my predicament. I am currently about to finish up a DIY postbacc, however, after spring semester my sGPA will only be 2.96. I have enrolled in summer classes in order to get that GPA above a 3.0, but that would mean submitting a late primary application (in August).
As someone with a really low GPA, I really want to apply as soon as possible to have the best shot of getting in, but I have read that many schools have cutoffs of 3.0.

My cGPA is 3.04 and MCAT:514, 200+ hours of clinical volunteering, 1000s of hours of nonclinical, some volunteering w/ underserved
Would you advise to apply in June, or get sgpa above 3.0 and apply in august?

I am dealing with a somewhat similar problem- I have a prereq (ochem III) that I initially got a C- in, and am currently retaking. Feedback that I have received has been that it is worth it to have the new >C grade for ochem before applying, so I have to wait until mid-late June. I think the same would apply to you for your summer course. The sGPA >3.0 is probably more important, too.

Edit: this is incorrect:
"It is a bit unfortunate because although August isn't late, it isn't particularly early for DO. I don't think that having to wait until August should prevent you from applying this cycle, however."

Not really, Goro has said that anything before Labor Day is early. September and October is generally when the most DO apps go out from what adcoms have said

I think that a 514 MCAT will encourage Admission deans to look beyond the sGPA. I suggest applying broadly, but also work on aceing a few more science classes. it's really about who you are as a student now, not the sGPA.

Just expect that some schools may hold your application early in the process because they know they are going to get higher stats coming in. It is not always first come first interviewed.
